How it works

Runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored.

  1. 01Direct cost is materials, labour hours × labour cost per hour, travel and any subcontractors.
  2. 02Overhead is recovered on the same labour hours at your overhead rate per hour.
  3. 03The price divides total cost by (1 − target margin), so the margin is a share of the price, not of cost.
  4. 04VAT is added on top at 15% if you are a VAT vendor.

The calculation

Total cost= direct cost + (hours × overhead rate)

Price= total cost ÷ (1 − margin)

Quote total= price × 1.15 (VAT vendors)
